Deep Dive: AI Data Collection Infrastructure and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)

How AI is reshaping the physical Internet
Nearly $7 trillion of data center investment is projected globally by 2030. (McKinsey)
Two things are driving that number: training and inference. Training is how AI models are built. It requires massive compute clusters that need data fed to them quickly, wherever those GPUs are in the world. Inference is how AI serves live users in real time. Every query, every response, every recommendation. Both training and inference depend on one thing: getting data where it needs to go, quickly and efficiently.
Our deployment partner, Titan Network, is part of a new wave of AI web data intelligence platforms built for exactly this shift, combining AI data collection with a decentralized CDN model.
Let's take a closer look at how this fits into DAWN.
What is Edge Infrastructure and what is a CDN?
Edge infrastructure refers to compute and storage placed physically closer to the end user, rather than housed in one centralized data center far away.
This matters for AI because distance adds latency: the further data has to travel, the more it costs and the longer it takes to arrive. When AI is answering someone in real time, that lag isn't something it can afford. Edge infrastructure solves this by placing compute and storage closer to users. A Content Delivery Network (CDN) works by storing copies of content in many places around the world, so when someone requests it, they get it from a nearby copy instead of pulling it from one original source that might be on the other side of the world. This is the core mechanism edge infrastructure relies on to actually reach users everywhere, for AI, video streaming, and other real-time services.
If the content a customer wants to access exists in a data center halfway around the world, retrieving it is inefficient, and the costs climb fast as traffic grows. Moving that content closer to the people requesting it fixes both problems: pages and videos start loading almost instantly, and delivery costs come down too.
A Real-World Example
For a platform like TikTok to serve users around the world, it needs content stored and delivered from many locations at once. This is exactly what a Titan Edge CDN does: deploys, owns, and operates the edge infrastructure that AI, streaming, and content businesses depend on.
This is the decentralized model Titan Network runs on: pairing AI data collection with a decentralized, peer-to-peer CDN, built from a distributed network of independently operated edge nodes rather than a handful of centralized data centers. Because the network is decentralized, that edge infrastructure can flex to meet demand and stay cost-efficient, especially in regions traditional CDNs underserve. Reducing latency, buffering, and delivery costs.
This enables companies like TikTok to reach their users everywhere without gaps in coverage. The use cases are expanding, but the underlying edge infrastructure capacity requirement is the same.
Why Does This Work With The USD.infra Vault?
The same infrastructure that delivers video instantly is what AI inference and data collection run on. Companies of all kinds pay to collect, store and deliver their data and content through Titan Network's web data intelligence platform, and that revenue flows back through DAWN's USD.infra Vault, rewarding eligible participants.
For DAWN, this means the Vault funds the deployments of physical infrastructure that businesses can use to collect, store, process, and deliver digital data and content to their customers. These deployments expand access to data across regions, helping better serve more users with services such as AI data collection, AI inference, video and data delivery, and other data-intensive applications.
Titan is a core partner for DAWN in building out the network infrastructure that enables these data deployments. The proof: Titan's first server on the Andrena network went live May 2026. Within its first week, it supported 13,000 concurrent connections. It now carries ~30 Gbps of sustained traffic.
